About Me

I grew up in the heart of the mountains in Montana, spending most of my time in the wilderness with my dogs and horses. Today, I still prefer to be in the wilderness, hiking and enjoying nature. Outside the office, you can find me enjoying the companionship of animals. I have three dogs, a cat, and a rat. It's a full house.

I started my journey into the field of counseling when I was very young fascinated with psychology and how the brain worked. In middle school, I started reading about psychology, and later took as many psychology and human development classes as I could in high school. In college I obtained a B. A. in psychology research, with a minor in gender studies and a minor in the history of religion. I graduated with an M. A. in Mental Health Counseling. There I focused on gender, sexuality, and family systems.

The two phrases you will hear me say the most in therapy is "That makes sense." and "That's normal." Many people don't realize how very normal emotions are. Too many people believe something is wrong with themselves and feel alone in their experiences. My favorite aspect of being a counselor is to connect with other people, hear and understand their experiences, and work with people as they grapple with their humanity, and work toward achieving the life they want.
